FIRE COMMISSONER VACANCY – APPOINTMENT
HOPEWELL TWP. FIRE DISTRICT NO.1 will be accepting letters of intent and resumes for applicants to fill the vacant Commissioners position. Applicant must be a resident of Hopewell Township, Mercer County. Term will run until December 7, 2021. Letters and resumes can be submitted in person at 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Rd Titusville, NJ 08560 or via US Mail post marked no later than July 22, 2021 or via email to Chief Matthew Martin, mmartin@hopewelltwpfire.org. All documents are due no later than 4pm on Thursday July 22, 2021.

Overview

The Board of Fire Commissioners is made of up five elected commissioners. These commissioners are responsible for the prevention and extinguishing of fires and the regulation of fire hazards within the geographic boundaries of Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey.

    N.J.S.40A:14-72.1(2)c. The term of a member of the board of fire commissioners elected at the time of the general election shall commence at 12 o’clock noon on the first Tuesday in December, and shall expire at 12 0’clock noon on the first Tuesday in December of the third year following the year in which such member was elected. Any vacancy in the membership shall be filled by the remaining members until the next succeeding annual election heal at the time of the general election, at which time a resident of the district shall be elected for the unexpired term.

CORRECTED NOTICE OF ELECTION Please be advised that the Hopewell Township Fire District election is scheduled for November 2, 2021. The legal voters will be asked to vote for two (2) Commissioner(s) to said Board of Fire Commissioners, one (1) of which is for a three (3) year term and one (1) to fill an unexpired one (1) year term. Petitions of Candidacy need be filled with the County Clerk no later than July 26, 2021; at 4:00 p.m., Form of petitions may be obtained from the County Clerk at (609) 989-6522 or accessing the County Clerk website. The Commissioners of Fire District No.1, Township of Hopewell, County of Mercer.
