Suburban Consulting Engineer presentation
Stony Brook Regional Sewer Authority presentation

April 28, 2023

To:           All Residents served by the Princeton Farms Sewer Utility
Subject:   Discussion regarding sewer system improvements
Date:        May 8, 2023, 6:00 pm- 7:00 pm, virtual and in-person

The Township Committee would like to discuss the sewer system and future improvements with residents in your community. Suburban Consulting Engineers conducted an inspection of the system and discovered inflow and infiltration, also known as I&I. Rainwater entering the system from unsealed manholes and groundwater entering piping create I&I. This leads to excess sewer charges for your community, as billing is based on the total number of gallons being treated. Treatment costs would be reduced by a decrease in inflow and infiltration. Additionally, the utilities’ cost share of a planned Stonybrook Regional Sewer Authority plant upgrade is reduced with less sewage flow sent to the plant for treatment.

The Township and Suburban Consulting Engineers secured a low-interest loan with $100,000 principal forgiveness through the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank to address I&I.

Present at the meeting on the 8th to answer your questions will be Committeeperson Kevin Kuchinski and Deputy Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning, a representative from Suburban Consulting Engineers, Administrator/Public Works Director George Snyder, Director of Community Development/Engineer James Hutzelmann, and Utility/Building Foreman Chris Beyer.

We look forward to seeing you on the 8th and moving forward with projects to improve your sewer utility infrastructure.

Respectfully,

George Snyder, Township Administrator/Director of Public Works
