Hopewell Township Enhances Traffic Safety with New All-Way Stops
As part of its continued commitment to road safety and traffic calming, the Hopewell Township Committee is pleased to announce the installation of two new all-way stops at the intersections of Pennington-Titusville Road and Scotch Road, as well as Pennington-Harbourton Road and Burd Road.
In early March 2025, Hopewell Township lowered the speed limits approaching the Pennington-Titusville Road and Scotch Road intersection and installed an all way stop. Later in March 2025, Mercer County reduced the speed limits on the approaches to the Pennington-Harbourton and Burd Road intersection and added an all-way stop.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our residents,” said Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning. “We encourage all drivers to be mindful of the new traffic controls and drive cautiously as we all adjust to these changes.”
These new all-way stops were installed following a thorough review of traffic patterns, safety concerns, and community feedback. The improvements are part of the Township’s ongoing efforts to ensure safer streets for both drivers and pedestrians.
“As a parent and neighbor, I know how important it is that we feel safe on the roads we drive every day,” said Deputy Mayor David Chait. “These changes came directly from community input, and I’m grateful we could work together to make these intersections safer for everyone.”
Mercer County Engineer Basit “Sunny” Muzaffar, along with the dedicated team at the Mercer County Transportation Department, deserves heartfelt recognition for their significant contributions to the successful implementation of the project. The Township Committee would like to thank Mercer County Executive Dan Benson for recognizing the needs for improvements at the Pennington-Harbourton Road and Burd Road, and for facilitating this task.
Hopewell Township is dedicated to providing a safe and welcome living environment for its residents. Through various community engagement efforts and infrastructure improvements, the Township Committee aims to ensure the highest quality of traffic and pedestrian safety.
