The CDC has released new guidance on what to do when sick with a respiratory illness, including COVID-19. These recommendations reflect the progress we’ve made since 2020. Hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 are significantly lower than in previous years, and effective vaccines and treatments are now widely available. For more info on the background and rationale for these changes please visit https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/background/index.html
Not feeling well? Be sure to take the following steps to protect others:
- Stay home when sick!
- Seek healthcare for testing & treatment as needed, especially if you are at higher risk for severe illness.
- Delay return to normal activities until at least 24 hours after your symptoms are reliably improving and you have been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications.
- Use precautionary strategies for at least 5 days which can include: wearing a mask, distancing from others, and improving ventilation when possible.
