During Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, the Hopewell Township Health Department is reminding parents that young children need a blood lead test at both 12 and 24 months of age. Any child under age 6 who has never been tested should also receive testing. Children’s rapidly growing bodies at this stage of development mean that even a little bit of lead exposure can cause significant health problems. Talk to your child’s doctor and learn more: https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/lead/faqs/lead-faqs.htm
If your home was built before 1978, minimize your family’s risk of lead exposure by hiring a certified professional to get your home tested for lead. Are you a landlord in Hopewell Township? Be sure to register your rental property with the Township Clerk here: https://www.hopewelltwp.org/158/Clerk and understand your obligations for lead-testing. Together we can prevent toxic lead exposures in our community!
