Traffic Light Installation at Route 31 and Ingleside Drive Follows Years of Township Committee Advocacy
Hopewell Township, Mercer County, NJ - After years of advocacy on behalf of the Hopewell Township Committee, Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning and the Committee are pleased to announce that a new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Route 31 and Ingleside Drive to improve resident safety. The project, overseen by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), is scheduled to begin with site mobilization for underground electrical work on or about September 20th, 2025.
Following the initial underground work, NJDOT will move forward with concrete placement, roadway striping, and above-ground electrical installation. The full project is expected to take several months to complete.
The intersection has previously been controlled by a flashing yellow beacon, requiring drivers to yield. The installation of a full traffic signal is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce collisions.
Mayor Courtney Peters-Manning emphasized the importance of this project, stating, “The safety of our residents is always our top priority. Installing a traffic light at this intersection will make an immediate and lasting difference in protecting drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists traveling through our community.”
The Hopewell Township Committee would like to thank NJDOT for its partnership on this vital infrastructure project, which will help ensure safer roadways for all.
