For Immediate Release:

The 2025 Municipal Budget includes a nearly 1% decrease in the municipal tax rate—at a time when U.S. inflation remains over 2.3% annually. This meaningful reduction was made possible through reduced municipal debt, disciplined spending, and new revenue sources, all while continuing to enhance services and invest in our community’s future.

In 2025, residents will also see new investments in public services. The Township is:

  • Investing in our Health and Animal Control Department
  • Increasing the size of the Police Department by 10% to meet the needs of our growing community
  • Adding a new Public Works crew to enhance leaf and brush collection as well as snow removal
  • Doubling the size of the Summer Surge Crew from 2 to 4 team members to help improve Township services during labor intensive summer season
  • Investing in new equipment, including a one-person-operated leaf vacuum so one person can do as much as an entire crew

“This budget reflects our commitment to responsible governance and community investment,” said Committee Member Kuchinski, Finance Liaison. “We are lowering the tax burden on residents while delivering the high-quality services they expect and deserve.”

The 2025 budget reflects both immediate improvements and a continuation of Hopewell Township’s long-term financial strategy. Over the past decade, the Township has steadily paid off more debt each year than it has taken on, demonstrating a disciplined approach to fiscal management.

The Township has also secured significant outside funding through grants and now receives over $1.3 million annually in benefits through shared services with neighboring municipalities and Mercer County.

“Our team has worked hard to find smart, sustainable ways to reduce costs and grow revenues without sacrificing service,” said Mayor Peters-Manning. “This year’s budget shows what’s possible when we focus on efficiency and innovation.”

The Committee Meeting occurred Monday, May 19th at 6:30 pm at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building and via Zoom.
