On April 24, Jim Hutzelmann, Hopewell Township’s Engineer and Director of Community Development, hosted a group of civil engineering students from The College of New Jersey. Their professor, Dr. Thomas Brennan, had contacted the Township to inquire about bringing his senior Sustainable Land Development students to visit one of our projects, and they were heartily welcomed.
Hutzelmann and Mitchell Newman, Director of Land Acquisition and Entitlements for Lennar, provided the students with a tour of the Hopewell Parc site and a discussion of several aspects of land development. They were very interested in hearing about the Township’s role in planning and permitting the project. A lively discussion followed about the construction process.
“It was a pleasure to host this class of upcoming engineers here in Hopewell Twp.,” said Hutzelmann. “Witnessing redevelopment working alongside resource protection will be invaluable in their careers. After meeting these enthusiastic students, I know the future of engineering is in good hands.”
The students and Dr. Brennan were grateful for the opportunity to see what they had been studying in use.
