Hopewell Township: A Leader in Environmental Sustainability
Our master plan and zoning is based upon "water balance" or the balance between the volume of water removed from our groundwater supplies and volume water returned to our groundwater supplies from rainfall, ponds, and innovative stormwater management techniques. The Township has also funded the construction of solar panels for its public works building, has begun retrofitting the lighting in all of its municipal buildings, and has mandated that all new budgets include a sustainability consideration. Hopewell Township is developing new land use ordinances with the assistance of grants from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions to mandate sustainable design efforts for all new land development.
