A temporary handicapped parking placard may be issued through the police department. Such placards are used by persons with a temporary handicap. Permanent handicap placards or license plates must be obtained from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
The application for a temporary handicapped placard is available from the Hopewell Township Police Department. It must be completed by the handicapped person’s physician. Once all documentation has been completed the application along with a check or money order in the amount of $4.00 and made payable to: “NJ Motor Vehicle Commission” should be brought to police headquarters during normal business hours and the placard will be issued.
