CHILD SAFETY SEAT CHECKS
According to the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety:
Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death of children over the age of six months in the United States. The proper use of child car seats is one of the simplest and most effective methods available for protecting the lives of our children in the event of a motor vehicle crash. Only the correct use of child car seats will offer the protection that children need.
The Hopewell Township Police Department offers the service of child seat installation and safety checks for Hopewell Valley residents. Currently there are three certified Child Safety Seat Technicians that are available by appointment to check child safety seats for proper installation.
To arrange for a car seat check:
Install the car seat according to the directions that came with the seat and in compliance with your vehicle’s owner manual. Then contact Sgt. William Springer at 737-3100 ext. 558 to make arrangements for a car seat check. A trained police officer child seat technician will then make arrangements to inspect your car seat and correct anything that is necessary. He or she will also help answer any questions you may have concerning the installation.
