Hopewepp Township

Emergency Notification System

The Hopewell Township Police Department is launching a new Community Information Service designed to deliver important and timely information to residents in our area using the latest technology.

Residents of Hopewell Valley can now take advantage of Nixle. This is a free service that alerts you to public safety threats and important community information via web, e-mail, and cell phone. Sign up at www.nixle.com to register.

We encourage residents to register now and learn more at www.nixle.com. Then share this new service with friends and neighbors to spread the word.

Nixle was built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. Its authenticated service connects municipal agencies and community organizations to residents in real time, delivering information to geographically targeted consumers over their cell phones (via text messages), through e-mails and through Web access. Nixle is offered at no cost to all governments, their agencies and organizations, nongovernmental organizations and consumers.

People wishing to receive the messages can have them sent to their cell phones, to their email, or to both. While the service is free, people opting to receive the messages on their cell phones should be aware that normal text messaging fees do apply.

Hopewell Township police intend to use Nixle only to notify people of important and time sensitive events taking place in Hopewell Valley.

The use of Nixle will supplement our other methods of rapidly getting important information out to our residents. The other methods presently being used are- emergency telephone notifications, cable television notices, and updates to the Hopewell Township web site.

While no method of emergency notification is foolproof, Nixle provides an additional avenue for the department. It will also allow us to make notifications to people even if they are not at home by sending the message to their cell phone.

People desiring to receive messages from the police department should sign up for the service at Nixle.com. Once again, the service is free but normal text messaging charges will apply to people who receive the messages on their cell phones. .
