LEAD POISONING
You can't see it or smell it. But lead can cause serious health problems for children. If lead poisoning isn't treated early, it will prevent children from developing properly, may cause behavior problems. An affected child could be easily excited, upset, or restless and have a short attention span.
It may also cause learning and hearing problems. If lead poisoning is treated early, much of the damage can be prevented. Please check with your health care provider about testing your child for lead. If you need help in getting these services, including transportation, please call your local Medical Assistance Customer Center at 856-787-3855 or the DMAHS Hotline at 1-800-356-1561.
