HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP BOARD OF HEALTH
County of Mercer, New Jersey

Take notice that on January 28, 2008, the Board of Health introduced ordinance BOH-2008-1, entitled “Public Health Nuisance Code of Hopewell Township”, amending Chapter 16, Section 16-7, of the Revised General Ordinances of the Township of Hopewell (1978)”.

The ordinance replaces 16-7 “Public Health Nuisance Code of New Jersey 1953, in its entirety with a more comprehensive ordinance in accordance with NJSA26:1A-9 and NJAC 8:52 Public Health Practice Standards of Performance for Local Boards of Health in New Jersey which requires the local board to conduct a public health nuisance program in accordance with applicable State or local ordinances.   

This ordinance defines what constitutes a nuisance and what is prohibited under that section.
Additionally, it provides for the return of lands to natural conditions under specific circumstances.

Based upon the Public Health Nuisance Code of NJ 1953 it defines housing Standards of habitability, the right to inspect, the abatement of nuisances, the recovery of costs by the township and enforcement and violations and penalties.

Take further notice that this ordinance shall be considered for final passage by the Board of Health on March 10, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. At the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ, at which time all persons interested will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning said ordinance.  Prior to that date comments may be sent by mail or to gguarino@hopewelltwp.org
