On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 the NJ National Guard will be conducting a competition involving their personnel along the Delaware River.
Helicopters will be used to drop personnel off on the Pennsylvania side of Washington Crossing Park. Participants will then travel by inflatable boat across the river. Participants will then run south along the canal path.
The participants will then turn around and complete this same course in reverse.
This event is scheduled to take place between 7 AM and 12 PM.
Road Construction Announcement
On or about Monday, April 10, 2017 Mercer County D.O.T. will be milling and paving Carter Road (CH 569) between Pennington Rocky Hill Road (Mt. Rose intersection) and Princeton Avenue in Hopewell Borough.
Work will occur Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm. The road will be closed to through traffic during these hours. Full access will be permitted during non-working hours.
Motorists will be directed to use East Broad Street/Hopewell-Rocky Hill Road (CH 518), Province Line Road, and Cherry Valley Road.
This work is anticipated to take approximately 20 working days.
Bridge Reconstruction Notice
On or about Monday, December 5, 2016 the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will start the rehabilitation of the two bridges on River Drive, one over Fiddlers Creek, and one over Steele Run, which have been closed for over three years.
Sections of River Drive, near these two bridges, will remain closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration of the project.
This project is to be completed in 150 calendar days, weather permitting.

In order to deliver these services on a schedule, the Township has been divided in three zones (click here for map). For detailed information regarding these services schedules click on the links below for each area or scroll down the page..
Fee is $29 non-refundable and must be paid Wednesday prior to the designated pick-up week. See Fee Payment
Place items at curb but not in street no earlier than the Friday prior to pick-up and no later than 7 am Monday of
the pick-up week.
Crews will not return for items placed out after the above deadline.
Bulk waste acceptance criteria per pickup are:
5 specified items (example of one item = sofa, bicycle, table, one 5’ length (rolled) of carpet, one 6’ length
of fence, four dining chairs)
4 bags/boxes not to exceed 40 pounds each. Container shall be strong enough to support weight and shall
not contain any SHARPS (ex. needles).
One 32-gallon container of light construction debris (ex. wood and sheetrock(all nails shall be pounded down
Wood fence – all concrete shall be removed from fencing.
Carpet, upholstered furniture, and bedding shall be covered with plastic to avoid from getting wet & heavy.
Windows – Cover with cardboard or tape to prevent shatter.

BRUSH RULES & REGULATIONS
PICK UP MONTHS ARE APRIL AND OCTOBER
& JANUARY (CHRISTMAS TREES ONLY)
No call is required for brush pickup. Brush will be picked up by Zone http://www.hopewelltwp.org/maps/BRUSH-ZONES.pdf according to the published schedule except for Route 29 and Route 31. Pickup for Route 29 and Route 31 will be the last week of the month, weather permitting.
To allow for safe and efficient collection and to ensure that your brush is collected please follow these guidelines:
Collection will be limited to brush and tree pruning. No vine or multiflora rose
Limbs shall be no longer than 4 feet.
Limbs and brush must be placed in an orderly manner with all butts (6”dia. maximum) facing road.
Maximum brush pile size – 4 feet wide x 4 feet high x 15 feet long. Disposal of brush in excess of this volume shall be the responsibility of the homeowner.
Small twigs must be bagged.
All wire, nails and metal shall be completely removed from the pile.
Do not place brush in street, gutter or within 10 ft. of any storm drain inlet per Ordinance No. 05-1356. Yard waste may be placed up to the edge of pavement or to the inside edge of curb for streets with no sidewalks. Under no circumstances shall yard waste be placed on sidewalks or in a manner that obstructs safe street sight distances or driveway sight distances. Placement of yard waste must occur on the frontage of the tax lot from which the yard waste originated.
Diseased material and firewood will NOT be collected.
Tree stumps, trunks and limbs in excess of 6” diameter will NOT be collected.
Brush in excess of above stated maximum brush pile size will NOT be collected.
Disposal of material in excess of the maximum brush pile size shall be the responsibility of the homeowner within 10 calendar days of the Township having performed collection for that lot.
Brush mixed with leaves will NOT be collected.
Special instructions shall be issued by the Public Works Director in the event added brush collections are to be provided as a result of storm damage. Such instructions will be posted to the Township website and cable channel (Comcast 95 and Verizon 30).

LEAF COLLECTION SERVICES
Pickup months are:

No phone call is required except for Routes 29 and 31. Along these routes please call 609-537-0250 when your leaves are ready. Some areas may experience delays due to volume or weather.

The Hopewell Township Public Works Department will be collecting tires throughout the Township on the days noted above. You must pay a non-refundable, non-transferable fee prior to the scheduled pickup day. Tires must be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on that Friday. Tires must be removed from the rims and no tubes or water inside.
