Mission Statement

The Hopewell Township Municipal Construction Department administers and enforces the "Uniform Construction Code-State of New Jersey," within the boundaries of Hopewell Township. We review construction permit applications and issue construction permits for Building, Fire, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Radon, Energy, and Rehabilitation Subcodes for commercial and residential structures. We perform inspections and issue Certificate of Occupancy and or Certificates of Approval for each project. The Hopewell Township Municipal Construction Department is regulated by the N.J. Department of Community Affairs. Salaries, permit fees, and working conditions are determined by the Hopewell Township Committee.

Short Range Goals and Objectives

1. Recover and stabilize departmental function due to various staff summer vacations.

2. Stabilize Plumbing Subcode responsibilities upon Chris Rose's return to work from active duty in the New Jersey Air National Guard.

Long Range Goals and Objectives

1. Transition from the old UCCARS computer program to the new computer program Permits New Jersey.

2. Start working to close out open permits.

3. Add some dignity and organization to filing system in expansion area.
