Intersection of Lawrenceville-Pennington Road and South Main Street construction work

Beginning on or about Thursday, August 13, 2015 Mercer County DOT will begin road resurfacing and construction of a new traffic island.

Phase 1: The entire intersection will be milled. During this phase, Pennington Lawrenceville Road will be closed to through traffic during the hours of 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (weekdays). Motorists will be directed to use Blackwell Road and Pennington Road.

Once the intersection is milled, it will be temporarily restriped according to the permanent traffic pattern.

Phase 2: New curbing will be installed in accordance with the permanent traffic pattern.

Phase 3: The roadway area will be resurfaced and lanscaping will be performed. Detours as per phase 1 will be in place.

Motorists should plan alternate routes during this construction.


Poor Farm Road Bridge Closure Announcement

Beginning on or about Monday, July 27, 2015 Mercer County DOT will begin repair of the Poor Farm Road Bridge over a tributary of Jacobs Creek. This bridge is located approximately 1/2 mile south of Harbourton Woodsville Road.

During the repair work the bridge will be closed to all traffic on a 24/7 basis. This project is expected to be complete within 60 days, weather permitting.

A detour will be posted directing motorists to use Harbourton-Woodsville Road, Trenton-Harbourton Road and Woosamonsa Road.  

Motorists should plan alternate routes during this construction period.

*** September 4, 2015: Poor Farm Road has been opened to traffic. Work on this project is ongoing. There is loose gravel in sections of the roadway, motorists should use due cauition.***

The Affordable Housing Committee of Hopewell Township is pleased to provide the following information to help Township residents better understand the mandates of the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH). Plans have been made to fulfill the Township’s constitutional obligation, to provide affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate income households, in conjunction with the Affordable Housing Committee, the Planning Board, and the Township Committee.

Who qualifies for Affordable Housing in Hopewell Township:
Affordable housing candidates for Hopewell Township must qualify within the limits set by the Council on Affordable Housing. These candidates are comprised of households earning 80, 50 and 30 percent of the median income level for our region. These residents must have proof of income. Residents with disabilities and seniors requiring assisted living services also qualify and housing specific to their needs counts towards the Townships Affordable Housing numbers. COAH mandates a certain percentage of housing developed under a Fair Share Plan provide for family rental units.

Who is a typical Affordable Housing resident in Hopewell Township:
Typical examples of individuals or families in need of low or moderate housing are single mothers, health care support staff, young teachers, teacher’s aides, store clerks, administrative assistants, library assistants, retirees, and emergency services personnel including police, fire, and emergency medical technicians.
